DigiNode Tools v0.10.10: Raspberry Pi 5 support, blockchain disk usage, DigiByte Core v8.22.1 and more

· Release Notes

DigiNode Tools now fully supports the Raspberry Pi 5, including booting from an NVMe SSD, and can install DigiByte Core v8.22.1. DigiNode Dashboard shows how much disk space each blockchain uses, and DigiNode Setup and DigiNode Dashboard show their version number when they start. There’s also an important fix for upgrading from a DigiByte Core pre-release.

Raspberry Pi 5 support

DigiNode Tools has now been fully tested on a Raspberry Pi 5 8GB booting from an NVMe SSD connected via PCIe, and everything works as intended. The Raspberry Pi hardware check has been rewritten: it now recognises every Raspberry Pi model, including all recent Raspberry Pi 5 models and future ones, and knows when your DigiNode is booting from an NVMe SSD.

Raspberry Pi 5 models with 4GB of memory should work, but 8GB or more is strongly recommended. See System Requirements for more.

Blockchain disk usage

DigiNode Dashboard now shows how much disk space each running blockchain uses.

Upgrading from a DigiByte Core pre-release

A serious bug stopped DigiByte Core from being upgraded from a pre-release to the latest release. This is now fixed. Apologies that it took so long to spot!

Other improvements and fixes

  • DigiByte Core v8.22.1 - DigiNode Tools can now install DigiByte Core v8.22.1.
  • Version numbers at launch - DigiNode Setup, DigiNode Dashboard and the diginode command now show their version number when they start, so it’s easy to tell which version you’re running when you need help.
  • List your wallets - The --listwallets flag shows the wallets installed on your DigiNode. This was the first step towards wallet tools, which arrived in full with the Wallets menu in DigiNode Tools v26.11.01.
  • Tidier uninstall - The uninstaller now offers to remove Regtest and Signet blockchain data if there is any, and on a Dual Node, the testnet node is now stopped properly before uninstalling.
  • DigiFacts - DigiNode Tools now gets DigiFacts from their new address, digifacts.diginode.tools.
  • Support links - Links to X (Twitter) for support have been replaced with Bluesky, as the X account is no longer used.
  • Switching between mainnet and testnet - The old blockchain data is now removed fully when you switch your node between mainnet and testnet.
  • Onion peers - diginode --dgbpeers and diginode --dgb2peers now show onion peers correctly.
  • Testnet time online - The time online for the testnet node in DigiNode Dashboard is now shown in UTC, like the mainnet node, instead of local time.
