terminal

The terminal, often referred to as the command line or console, is a text-based interface used to interact with a computer's operating system. It allows users to execute commands, manage files, and run scripts by typing specific commands, offering more direct control over the system compared to graphical interfaces.

VPS

A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a type of hosting service that provides users with a virtualized server environment. It offers more control and resources than shared hosting, as each user gets a dedicated partition of a physical server, but at a lower cost and complexity than a full dedicated server.

VM

A VM (Virtual Machine) is a software emulation of a computer system, allowing you to run an operating system and applications in an isolated environment on a host computer, as if it were a separate physical machine.

SPV

An SPV (Simplified Payment Verification) node is a lightweight DigiByte client that downloads only the block headers of the blockchain instead of the entire block data. It is typically used for mobile wallets where space considerations make downloading the entire blockchain impractical. SPV nodes must rely on the work of full nodes for accurate information but provide a faster and less resource-intensive way to interact with the blockchain.

IPFS

IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) is a decentralized and distributed network system designed to store and share files in a peer-to-peer fashion.

MOTD

MOTD stands for "Message of the Day". It's a short message displayed to users when they log in to a system, often used on servers or in multi-user environments like UNIX or Linux systems. The MOTD typically contains information, announcements, or updates relevant to the users.

CLI

A CLI (Command Line Interface) is a means of interacting with software by typing commands into a console or terminal, rather than using a graphical interface.

UPnP

UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is a protocol that allows automatic setup of port forwarding in network devices, simplifying network configuration.

Mainnet

The DigiByte Mainnet is the primary public blockchain network of DigiByte where actual transactions occur in the native cryptocurrency, DGB. This is distinct from the Testnet, which is used for testing purposes.

Testnet

The DigiByte Testnet is functionally identical to Mainnet but the testnet coins - known as DGBT - are worthless. It is used by developers for testing.
