DigiNode Tools v0.8.6: DigiByte Core pre-releases, a new home at diginode.tools and more
It’s been a few months since the last update, but this one is worth the wait. DigiNode Tools can now install DigiByte Core pre-releases, so it’s easy to help test DigiByte Core v8.22.0, and to switch back to the latest release. DigiNode Tools also has a new home at diginode.tools, a --help flag lists every option, and there are plenty of improvements and fixes.

DigiByte Core pre-releases New
DigiNode Setup can now install a pre-release of DigiByte Core with the --dgbpre flag, which makes it easy to try out DigiByte Core v8.22.0-rc2 and help test it. Use --dgbnopre to go back to the latest release, currently v7.17.3. If there’s a problem, you can easily downgrade, and it’s easy to switch between releases and pre-releases for testing.
The Status Monitor now looks for a newer release or pre-release of DigiByte Core, depending on which one you’re running.
A new home at diginode.tools New
The official address for DigiNode Tools is now diginode.tools, and DigiNode Setup now runs from setup.diginode.tools:
curl -sSL setup.diginode.tools | bash
DigiNode Tools also has its own accounts on X (@diginodetools) and Bluesky, and a Telegram group, and the links in DigiNode Tools now point to them.
A list of every option New
The new --help flag shows all the optional flags you can use when running DigiNode Setup. Try it now:
curl -sSL setup.diginode.tools | bash -s -- --help
Other improvements and fixes
- Improvement DigiAsset Node web UI - Its address is now shown by IP address as well as by hostname, because the hostname doesn’t always work.
- Improvement DigiAsset Node block height - The Status Monitor now shows the DigiAsset Node’s block height, with commas so it’s easy to read. It sometimes shows important error messages too, and it has already helped find a bug in the DigiAsset Node software, which DigiAssetX is working to fix.
- Improvement A DigiFact to take away - When you quit the Status Monitor, the DigiFact you were reading stays on the screen.
- Improvement Documentation - Lots of improvements, including clearer one-page setup instructions for the Raspberry Pi, and a
--helptip in the custom MOTD. - Fix Failed DigiByte Core installs - DigiNode Setup is better at spotting a DigiByte Core download that uses an unexpected folder structure. It now restores the version you had from its backup and restarts it.
- Fix Kubo downloads - If Kubo (IPFS) can’t be downloaded, the DigiAsset Node install or upgrade is now skipped, and a glitch in the Kubo v0.21.1 release is worked around by installing v0.22.0.
- Fix Upgrading to a full DigiNode - Upgrading from a DigiAsset Node only to a full DigiNode has been reworked, and now works with the
--dgbpreflag. - Fix Smaller fixes - The UPnP menu shows your DigiByte port correctly, and fixes for the
--skippkgupdateflag, installing the MOTD and more.
